Santa Maria del Mar is the main parish church of the town of Palamós. It was built between the 15th and 16th centuries and belongs to the late Gothic style. The temple has suffered significant damage in several episodes in its history, the last of which occurred during the civil war. The church is located near the harbour and many of the main tourist and commercial attractions of Palamós.
